<intro>Does this painting look familiar? The chances that you have seen it before are pretty high. The chances you also know that its name is "Tina" are a bit lower. The chances that you know anything about the artist who created it are close to zero.
I am talking about J.H. Lynch, an artist that for many years left nothing but his paintings and his signature. I am not talking about someone who lived 400 years ago or some local hobby artisan. No, I am talking about a persona whose works were sold worldwide in amounts of hundred thousands if not even millions. And even though this happened only some 30 years ago there are almost no traces left. When I started this site two years ago I knew three of his paintings and didn't know anything else about this artist, I had many questions like: Who is J.H. Lynch? Is he still alive? Is he maybe a woman? Where did he come from? Are there more paintings?
In the meantime some of the question have been answered - with the help of many contributors I found out that Joseph Henry Lynch was a British artist and that he died on January 16th 1989 at the age of 78. I also learned that at the end of his live he destroyed many of his paintings or gave them away to charity - probably because he was frustrated that during his lifetime he never received the recognition that he would have deserved. I hope that with this site I am able to show that J.H. Lynch merits a place in art history and must not be forgotten.
As there are still many question unanswered and many pieces of the puzzle missing I need your help - if you have any information that might help, please contact me.

I am thinking about changing this whole site into a blog format once I find a spare weekend. Let's see how this will work out.

I've added all the originals and the previously unknown prints that appeared on eBay in the last months. I hope that I can dedicate more time to this site in the future, but I better don't promise too much.

Oh well, long time no update on the front page. It's about time I make this part dynamic so it's less hussle to update it. Because there might be a huge update in the pipeline. Lots of interesting developments in the last weeks. First I was contacted by a person who said he was JH Lynch's agent - I'm looking forward to the story he has to share.Today I received a mail by the nephew of JH Lynch. Being very sceptical about claims like these, this time I'm very confident that the story is true. He might be able to solve the mystery. So if he tells the truth I can tell you this much:JH Lynch's full name is Joseph Henry Lynch, he was British and died 12 years ago.

Glenn Scott aka kitchking just provided me with two new names: the first is for previously untitled "Clare", the second is an update on "Rose" - this one has recently been sold under the name "Lisa" on TradeMe and I believe that it's the real title. On a sidenote: I really appreciate to receive JH Lynch related email, but you do have to believe me: I have no other secret information hidden beyond the one that I provide on this site. So asking me questions like "Can you tell me more about J.H Lynch?" or "What can you tell me about this print?" is wasted energy. I prefer mails like "I have found this sticker on the backside of my print: xxx - does that tell you anything?"

I do not update this news section as often as I should. But if your check the forum you will see that many little pieces of information have been added. Finally I've found the time to add two recently discovered prints to the gallery. Thanks a lot to Steven and Elaine for sending me the photographs!I also could remove another one of those "Title unknown" tags: Raewynne from New Zealand found the title "Maria" on the back of her print - thank you for lettign me know!

A lot of new infos have arrived. The most sensational is probably the discovery of a calendar from 1980 titled "Lynch Girls". See two new paintings in the gallery and check out the thread in the forum.Steven has provided me with some new "backside of the print" discoveries - most important - one label names J.H. Lynch a "British Artist".

Jeu Wijnen from Belgium just sent me a JPEG of a Lynch picture that I didn't know yet. Thank you very much - I've integrated it into the gallery.I also updated the information about "Zena" which was untitled before.
